Robin Hood, Field of Dreams (“Build it and they will come”), Waterworld, Dances with Wolves, The BodyGuard, A Perfect World, The Guardian, The Upside of Anger, etc!
Could it be coincidental that some of Kevin Costner’s movie titles had an influence on his dreams and destined him for an even larger role? His oil capturing machine could save our Gulf, environment and livelihoods from the BP oil disaster? He was certainly inspired by the Valdez oil spill and invested over $20 million dollars of his own money. Watch this post from Treehugger! BP seems to think this is a viable solution – they’ve purchased 32 from Costner’s company after finding positive test results from one of these cleanup machines!!
WOW – here’s an interesting fact found on Wikipedia- he purchased the company, Ocean Therapy Solutions, from the government :
“In 1995, Costner purchased Ocean Therapy Solutions, a company developing oil separation machines, from the US government for $24 million. The machines developed by the company were of little commercial interest until the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, when BP took six of the machines for testing in late May 2010.[23] On June 9, that order was expanded to 32 anti-oil devices.[24]”

solve the water crisis. From Planet Green, this great article talks about the actual monitoring of our water usage and inspires one to reduce our consumption of this precious resource. Supply and demand!! Given this is a multi-billion $$ industry, don’t you think this has validity?
We’ve all heard about California’s water problem. Now a law has been implement for water consumption to be cut 20% by 2020.
In our home, we run the dishwasher only when it is full on the air dry cycle and only at night. We try to do laundry (cold water only) in the evening when there is less demand for water and make sure that we don’t have leaky faucets or toilets. Also reducing amount of time in the shower and turning off the water while brushing your teeth! So many options to conserve water – we just need to do it! Here are some great tips from Water Use it Wisely!

The Tragic Face of “Drill, Baby, Drill”

An article truly worth the read from Larry King Live commentary by Phillippe Cousteau. As the tragedy grows not only from the loss of life and the environmental concerns, it’s also affecting people’s livelihoods and how changes in the way we live and consume will probably have to change.
The unfolding of “American Dream’s” held by so many is causing pause and to relook at how we live. Not so easy for many. As Phillippe Cousteau quotes John Audobon “That the world is not given by one’s father, but borrowed from one’s children”.
