He’s been called “Ahead of his time” and “A Surprising Environmentalist” – T. Boone Pickens has had a huge impact on corporate America and recently authored “The First Billion is the Hardest”.  Now he’s hoping to make a huge impact on the environment.  He states “in 1970, we imported 24% of our oil.  Today it’s nearly 70% and growing.   At current oil prices, we will send $700 billion dollars out of the country this year alone.”  Pickens makes recommendations of alternative energy sources in The Pickins Plan (video).

I started off giving kudos to a company and an individual once a month for Going Green.  But I’m finding that there are so many deserving companies and individuals that I’ll be doing future posts under Kudos On Going Green!  Surely these community leaders should be given credit as soon as I hear about them!  Make a difference in going green!  If you know of a company or person making a difference – let me know.  I’d love to share!

Kathy Washienko came up with a great idea that started out when she saw the movie “An Inconvenient Truth” in 2006.  She’s made a difference in her family as well as now making a difference in others by putting together Climate Kits!  She states that it initially started as Christmas energy savings gifts for her family and then others started requesting it. 

This has gotten so big, she created Kathy’s Climate Kits offering two kits along with additional information about recycling, tire pressure, CFLs, info on opting out of Junk Mail, renewable energy,  guides to purchasing cars and appliances and much more!

I hope you’ll take the time to visit her site!  She’s one person that is making a difference in educating how easy it is to be eco-friendly!  Go Kathy!
